Welcome to Rutland Adult Learning & Skills Service.

Part of Rutland County Council, we offer a range of learning opportunities aiming to upskill and boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards, delivered through our well-equipped building on the outskirts of Oakham.

You could study English, Maths and IT from the basics to Functional Skills qualifications, gain life-saving First Aid knowledge, explore a variety of arts and crafts, learn a new language, build independent living skills and more.

We offer concessions on course fees if you claim certain benefits or have a low household income, and many of our qualifications are fully funded.

Through our free Information, Advice and Guidance Service, we can also help with creating or updating your CV, searching for or applying for jobs, or finding the appropriate course.

I’m a parent to three children and after an extremely tough few years, I was re-housed within Rutland.

I feel stronger and more confident and I’ve met some nice new friends.

I would strongly urge anybody to join a course at RALS and get something back for the better in your life and improve your confidence and self-esteem.

I am in the advanced Italian Class

My experience is that through having attended the adult education classes my Italian has improved beyond my wildest expectations.

I now converse comfortably face to face and on the phone, whilst thinking in Italian.

Working Student

Advanced Italian

At my interview I was asked about what I had been doing. I mentioned I had college on a Thursday and they were impressed with what I had been doing.

It has taken a little while to do but it is worth it in the end.

I enjoy coming to see my friends in class and interact with them.

First day at work tomorrow!
